Determined to give a Christmas gift to every child at Ira Cross Elementary School, staff members called on their partners and during the week before the break, delivered presents to all 606 students.
Communities in Schools site coordinator Nor’Randa Anderson-Smith and parent liaison Lenora Todd organized much of the effort, including delivering to classrooms this week.
The school’s Fort Hood adopt-a-school unit the 11th Corps Signal Brigade and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9191 each donated toys to the school.
In addition, Smith said, CIS partners and private anonymous donors pitched in to allow the school to gift every child in the school.
Smith and Todd praised the generosity of the community and pointed out the project was a team effort that included school volunteers to help prep and deliver the gifts.
